Myarehab + Nutrition

Working on MyaRehab's brand and identity design threw me straight into the deep-end of brand design. I was challenged to apply the skills of research and project management. To be solely responsible for the branding of Jesse's dream.

Jesse's dream for Myarehab & Nutrition is to help people change their lives. She strongly believes that diet and exercise go hand in hand. As an accredited Exercise Physiologist and Certified Nutrition Coach, she guides her patients to a stronger, healthier future.

Jesse asked me for a logo that reflected balance. She showed me a  number of sketches that she had drawn of a set of scales, one side had an apple for 'diet' and the other side had a weight for 'exercise'. The idea was to show how exercise and diet are just as important as the other, to have a balanced healthy life.

Concepts

After spending some time working on the scale concept for the logo I became stuck. While there was nothing particularly wrong with the design, it was, simply put; boring. The logo was literal. You could look at it, understand it and then not care about it. This road block caused me to think about balance in a new way, looking into the way we see and feel balance.

During my studies I've learnt a lot about balance, between colours, typeface, shape and line weight. The key to creating balance in any design is an eye  that understands the weight of different elements on a page, and to notice when one element says more than it should be. For MyaRehab & Nutrition, diet and exercise needed to be equal in weight, connected in some way... But not the same.

finished logo

Bright colours look fresh, lively and optimistic. The perfect way to represent a business that is selling a healthy lifestyle.

Minimal: A healthy balanced lifestyle of nutrition and exercise is hardly meant to look chaotic or complicated. The logo should be the same. A minimal logo is also a timeless statement, which can later evolve easily with the business.

Website design

MyaRehab needed a platform to educate potential clients about the services the business offers, and a place for people to book consultations/referrals. I first designed the wire-frames of the site and sorted the content into pages for the navigation bar. The site is hosted on Squarespace, and the online booking system was added as a widget to the coding of the site, which works on both desktop and mobile devices. I also have experience working with Weebly, Wordpress, Shopify, and coding HTML websites using bootstrap.
